How often should soup be boiled if keeping in the fridge?

Post Body
My wife and I make a monstrous pot of soup every so often as it is convenient and healthy, and we store it in the fridge. We recently had near half a pot spoil, I believe because I never took out the whole pot and boiled it while it was in there. My question is, how often should I bring it to a boil if storing in the fridge for an extended period of time? Every three days? Four or five?
