I love unagi kabayaki, and finally found a quick way to make it at home. I didn't want the pre-sauced version, I want to choose my own sauce. I get my eel from American Unagi, and I use banchans bbq, and it takes 20 mins in my broiler. I start my rice, turn on the broiler, pull eel out, foil tray, I start skin side up, 10 mins (spin pan once or twice) then flip to flesh side up and sauce it 2-3 times for another 10 mins, and it is melt in your mouth perfect!! Rice is usually done by then and I have a perfect little unagi donburi in minutes! Enjoy!
Wow, thanks for sharing your quick hack for making delicious unagi kabayaki at home! I'll definitely give it a try.
