I live alone. Cook alone. Shop alone. You guessed it, I eat alone.
I don't drink milk. I've just never liked it, so I don't buy it.
Here's the deal. Some recipes require milk, heavy cream, etc. How do I buy this stuff? I don't want to buy a carton of milk, use half a cup and the rest go to waste. I can only use it up so fast before I need to eat something different.
Is there a way to have milk or cream on hand without it going bad so fast?
Thanks everyone for your help and ideas!
Also, I've always been under the impression that milk and cream type products don't fair to well with freezing and thawing.
Edit. Someone asked for examples. Potato soup, home made Mac n cheese.... That's all I can think of right now. Lol.
EDIT AGAIN: There are too many posts for me to reply to! :) You've all been a great help with awesome ideas! Thank you!
One option could be to buy small cartons of milk or individual-sized containers of cream, so that you can use them up before they go bad
Another option could be to substitute milk or cream with alternatives like almond milk or coconut milk, which have a longer shelf life.
