Do I need to have the “GunSmith” card equipped in “Intelligence” to slow weapon breaking or can I take it out and it’ll work?

Hey I was wondering if having the “gunsmith” card is necessary to slow down the weapon breaking or can I remove it and does it still work if I modified the gun with the card equipped? Hopefully it makes sense if not let me know and I’ll edit. Sounds like a dumb question which may be but I’m curious since I don’t see much on that? Thank you hope to hear from you guys!
