Question about how stalemates with contesting workshops work?
Post Body

So I don’t PVP often, but if I do, it’s usually over the Munitions Workshop. I decided today I would go over there since I’m out of 45, and use the ammo maker to make some while also farming lead. So I set up, kill two Scorchbeasts to defend (using literally what the machine pumps out, running back and forth) and no sooner do I do that... three people sneak in to contest.

Thus the 40 minute battle begins.

Me vs these three, back and forth. Then while they are holding it at one point, another Scorchbeast defend starts, but with four or five of them (very hard to keep track of all those wings while you’re trying not to also get shot.)

So I finally get back into the factory and hole up during this. They kill the last of the SBs, but by this point I’ve reclaimed. They contest. A bit of time passes, suddenly I can’t see their red markers anymore, but I still hear them running around on the roof. The contesting bar runs down, the claiming bar ticks up... and suddenly they have the workshop!?

And then my own turrets turn on me.

So what gives? I thought they had to kill me in order to claim? Why would the stalemate end in THEIR favor when I successfully defended my workshop?

If anyone could explain, I would appreciate it. I feel like I’ve missed something probably obvious.
