Some help with perk cards for melee build

I've been playing for a few weeks now and I'm lvl 43 close to 50. Thought I would end up playing ranged but I'm enjoying melee a lot.
From some info I saw online I think I know what strength cards I need but wanted to ask regarding the other attributes, what perks do you recommend for a melee build?
Also as a melee do you bother to keep a ranged weapon and lvl it up? Not sure if I can get all the gunsmith perks while trying to focus on my melee perks.
