[possible spoilers] I'm on Xbox One, and the story progression has glitched at the quest 'Defend The Castle' (with Minutemen). How do I fix this?

I started the quest, and around halfway through, found I was outmatched by the invading Synths. So I fled, completed quests, levelled up a bit, and returned. After defeating the Synths, the quest objective was stuck at 'Defeat the attackers (90%)' and did not progress beyond that. No further Synths have spawned.
I have tried speaking to Ronnie Shaw, she is only offering to trade or barter. Preston has not progressed the quest. I have tried reinstalling the game, it has not worked.
How do I fix this?
