I finally got to Diamond City which feels like the games first major open area and the largest jump in interesting characters and quests and it just felt weird how prior to getting there you'll encounter two fairly uninteresting shades of Lawful-X Factions that could end up sidetracking you for a significant amount of time.

IE; Freedom Calls you'll always encounter unless you're cheeky and ignore Codsworth, and it seems likely you also end up popping in to assist Danse's BoS chapter on the way there too.

I mean I sort of understand why the Minutemen are introduced early, so that the people who are more invested in the Sandbox Settlement have access to it earlier (I personally kind of regretted wasting my time with them) but the BoS? Will I even ever meet the BoS or Danse again now that I just decided to ignore their initial offer leaving them in Questline Limbo?

I'm somewhat hoping now that I'm in Diamond City the pacing improves, Fallout 3 and NV had pretry good gameloops of "Go somewhere, do a quest, go onwards" (I guess with NV that is less true late-game as you are pretty much just accomplishing optional objectives exploring the world at the behest of your faction before the big Hoover Dam showdown)
