If I may be so bold as to offer a small bit of advice.
I fished 30’s & 32’’s fairly regularly while living in Colorado and had decent success. Taking on a challenge such as doing more with less is very satisfying.
One thing that you may consider in order to help the bite to hookup ratio - offset the hook slightly. The gap on hooks that size is naturally very small, reducing the ability for the hook point to pierce flesh. With a slight offset you’ll increase the probability of the point entering the skin and therefore increase the chance for hookups.
Also, for all the naysayers in the comments, yes, good sized fish can, and are, caught regularly on hooks that small. The challenge for me was to go as small and light as possible, but still produce as well as someone fishing a 5wt. rod and a box of Walmart hares ears. It helped increase my skill level and became very satisfying. Probably a bit smug sometimes too but I try to monitor that so I’m not too much of a dick.
One additional item - I encourage anyone to give micro flies a try in their local ponds. Even after 40 plus years of fly fishing I find myself giggling like a little girl trying to entice the little sunfish over and take my offering. It’s a lot of fun fishing and feeling like a little kid again 🙂
