Mixed messages from AMEs...how to proceed

Quick back story:

In the past I've dealt with sudden and random episodes of vertigo. They last a few minutes and then disappear and usually it's 2-3 episodes that day, next day I'm fine. These are rare, thankfully. The last time this happened was nearly 6 years ago and before that it wasn't even an annual occurrence.

I've been to two ENTs, have had balance tests, hearing tests, tympanometry tests, all came back normal. Neither ENT saw fit to diagnose me with anything.

I've spoken to a number of AMEs on how to proceed and all have given me mixed messages:

-One said don't bother applying unless I have it on record that I haven't had an episode for several years

-Another said apply but just put dizzy spells on my MedXpress rather than vertigo episodes

-Another said to be honest about everything but that he will have to defer to the FAA, which would most likely result in the FAA saying they want additional tests such as a neurological assessment.

I'm okay with getting more tests done if necessary but I just want to get the application going at this point rather than wait in limbo like this and I'm all for being honest and disclosing everything on my MedXpress (I'm going for a class 3 for private pilot).

Thoughts from you all who have some experience in this whole process?
