Should I be concerned about learning with a new CFI?
Post Body

Given the demographic of Reddit, I realize this is going to be perhaps a little personal for some on here. I mean no offense, CFIs have to start somewhere.

However, A few days ago I booked my first lesson flying after a discovery flight I loved (at a different school). I have just found that my instructor is a brand new CFI (certified 2 weeks ago).

I feel a little bit apprehensive about learning from someone so fresh to the instruction game. I haven't even met the CFI yet, and have no comment on his abilities (which I have no reason to believe are anything except excellent, it's a reputable school).

However, I feel I'm potentially going to be missing out / getting less effective tuition vs a more experienced CFI.

Teaching / instructing is a skill in itself, and even if he's an awesome pilot, it's hard to convince myself that I won't be getting less effective instruction vs a more experienced CFI (simply because this CFI is new to the act of instructing). I'll also have no real way of knowing if that is indeed the case.

Another thing on my mind is that the CFI did his first solo 2 years ago. I'd perhaps prefer instruction from someone with a little more experience (i'm not expecting a mustached retired airline pilot that does it for the love of aviation, but there's gotta be quite a bit of middle ground in between that and a new CFI).

Am I wrong for feeling this way / desiring this?

Is it going to be awkward if I try different instructors at the same school when getting my first lessons and picking the one i like best? Is that common?

Any other reasons /factors I'm missing that mean I'm being an idiot about this?

EDIT: I should point out I'm still going to have my first lesson with this CFI either way. I have an open mind about it. I'm just looking for opinions from those more experienced than myself (which is basically everyone).
