From a flight students perspective, is a sim worth it?
Post Body

Here to ask a question that I'm sure has been asked before. I can't get a straight answer from Google. I'm currently in IFR Training, but Covid and weather has stalled my training more or less. I've thought about getting MFS and a gaming PC but cost to worth ratio and whether I'll use it after training really throws me off. I've looked at PC's, laptops, building my own, yokes and throttles, the chance of having to upgrade the system and then some supposed MFS bugs, the vatsim community and I don't know, I just feel kinda stuck. In my opinion, the time and money put into it could used studying and chair flying, but this is coming from someone whose only flown the really rinky dinky flight sim at my flight school. I wouldn't say cost is primarily an issue for me, but it's really about fitting effort and time between work, family, studying, etc. At the end, what do you guys think?

Edit: So I bit the bullet and bought the sim. Although flying in it is goofy, I find that I'm still very hesitant to contact ATC and when I'm given an unexpected clearance I start fumbling with my workload. It's actually pretty useful when trying to tackle SRM
