GNS 430 Non WAAS

I am looking at buying a non waas gns 430 for a 172. I found one locally that is in great shape. The back of the nit shows it has one “mod”. Ive seen others with mods up to 7 or 8. Does anyone know what the mod levels are? is it better to buy one with more mods? Thanks!
