I'm in downwind, abeam the runway. flying right over the tower nearly and they ask me, how soon i can turn base. I reply, I'll let you know as soon as I am able. Im already slowing down now, throwing out some flaps as i begin to trn base like 1/4 from the runway threshold and still 900' up. Tower comes back and asks how short i can make my short final. I reply i can get down quickly. IM thinking wow they are rushing me down big time here. So i dump full flap, slip and make a super nice short landing in like 400 feet... coast down the runway a little and just as im turning off the runway onto taxiway, i see why they wanted to get me out of the way!
