I have the chance to buy a 1969 Cessna 150 for 10k. its worth more than that for sure. It will need radios, and some updated instruments, as well as a paint job and cosmetic work. i do have a hanger and free plac to do this work with a mechanic. Im thinking i can buy it for 10, put 5 into it. then have a plane worth 20-25k when im done. thing is, is it worth it?
im a new pilot, ppl. have no plans to get cpl. just flying for fun, and i think 150 is going to make that very inexpensive. it flys on car gas, insurance is cheap, and im getting a good deal on it. id love to own a 172 or something a little bigger, but honestly if i can only get 100 to 200 hours in a year, thats not really economical.
im hoping i can own this for a 15k investment, fly it around for 50 bucks an hour roughly and be content. but is a 150 enough to keep someone content?! id love to hear from owners, or anyone who has an opinion or questions about this.
thanks in advance!
