Hello everyone! This is the first Reddit post I’ve made so I apologize if idk what I’m doing.
I’m 19 and I have my PPL and working on my instrument rating. I went to Embry riddle Prescott for my privates but I really didn’t like the 141 environment, so I’m 1 month into training at ATP near my home in CT and training itself is a lot better but something feels off. I don’t have any friends currently at home because everyone is off at college, and I feel like I’m doing it all wrong, it’s Halloween night and I’m prepping for my 250nm xc tomorrow and all my friends are out having a good time tonight and I just feel like I’m not enjoying my youth like everyone else. Am I doing something wrong or has anyone felt like they’re not enjoying themselves enough while training? I love what I’m progressing towards but I feel like I’m almost wasting my last year as a teenager and my college years.
-Thank you all for the help in advance and happy Halloween 👻
I went to a 141 school. After knee surgery and finally finishing CFII, I was able to get my tail wheel rating, and it was so nice to just get back to "fun" flying for a while. So I have some ideas about what you're talking about.
I worked really hard to get through school, but I'm glad I did it when I was young and had the energy to do school, flying, and working overnight at the same time.
I worked my ass off, but it was worth it. I got on with an airline at 23. Seniority is EVERYTHING, and timing can make a huge difference in your career. Work hard now, and you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your hard work a lot sooner than your friends that finally got serious with their lives a lot later.
