I feel a bit ashamed writing this post but I also know that we all have our own learning journey, and get some inputs.
I started training in September 23 and my main instructor was 3 months new (after his Instructor rating). On the day 1, we had a ground briefing of basics for 6 hours, which I felt I was a lot more prepared from From the ground up and PTM, than the instructor reading a PPT but really just that. Not happy as I had to pay over 600$ but I was like whatever!
Later in the training, there were multiple exercises like stalls, where I had to do repeated flights due to being bounced between different instructors and different aircrafts. During circuits, I was taught something by the instructor for flaring and after 8-10 flights in circuits, I was doing a supervisory before first solo, where the chief instructor mentioned my flaring was incorrect, and asked my instructor if that's what he has been teaching to which he said Yes. Now I had to do more circuit flights with different flaring techniques and finally I went solo at almost 53hrs.
I moved on to emergencies and other exercises, and I was giving PPL review at 118 hours. In the mocktest, I was picked on a couple of items that I was never taught. All other exercises were good except for one or two for which I was scored "2". After that, I switched to a different instructor (who is more passionate to teach and has different experiences in Canada and Europe). At 124 hours, I'm still working on my speciality take-offs and landings as I got rusty after a couple of unexpected breaks from daily flying. I feel like my motivation is going down, as well as I'm less confident on only available aircraft at the school. I had to do an emergency landing on this aircraft once due to rudder malfunction (which I suspected during pre-flight check but was told it looks fine by chief instructor) when I was around 91hrs, I also had fuel leak from wing drain - quite a lot but not just drops, which i was told it was just a summer day fuel expansion that lead to excessive fuel drain from the tank. I know this concept but never experienced before not in such excessive amounts, but could clearly see the disappointment in the chief instructor's face when i told this to him.
Out of 124hrs, 98 was dual time and only 26 was solo (including 8hr x-country), and now they don't want me go solo as I aborted my take off today, when I observed the fuel leak that I mentioned above.
I do have a tendency of being a bit hard on myself, but the continuous frustration about the young instructor, and chief instructor correcting him infront of me, having high hours and spending 46k at this school with so many disappointments about quality and safety, are not going away from my head.
Any thoughts? I know people suggest to change the flight school, but all schools are fully booked from new enrollments for atleast 3-4 months or rest of the summer, and I passed my PPAER (PPL written) in December.
