Question- My distant recall from friends working executive jet charter was that on long overwater flights they carried additional supplemental oxygen because in the event of loss of pressure they would need to descend when the built in oxygen system ran out of O2 and at the lower altitudes the fuel consumption would become a potential problem. Is this calculated for air carriers on long overwater flights.
My recollection is that the Boeing that lost the plug door was removed from overwater service due to the pressurization issues prior to the loss of the door.
