Currently live in north Florida, commute down on my own regionals metal to south Florida where I’m based out of. Soon I plan on moving to the west side of south Florida, and I was considering buying a C182, and using it for my commute over to MIA, looking into FBO costs it’s bit on the pricy side to continuously do it, but I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a smaller airplane for a while now. Another option I was looking into was instead of flying directly into MIA the bravo, purchase a hanger and a car in the smaller class delta north or south of the field and doing that.
Honestly I just want advice, how many of you have done this? Worth it? Etc
Small side note: can’t move directly within short driving distance to base yet for family reasons/jobs
Edit: One small detail is that the plane wouldn’t solely be used to commute this would also be a leisurely investment. A goal of mine for ages has been to own my own little GA plane and financially I’m in a good spot for it now, despite the market being a bit high. Basically I would use the plane for more than just commuting.
I was considering this as well, but I feel like I would get more enjoyment out of a nice little GA since I really miss GA flying and plan on using it a lot more than just for commuting but yea costs are not ideal for commuting.

Yea realistically the cost is a turn off, then again I plan on flying it more than just for commutes, the main plan was to get a plane to fly with on days off, since I really miss GA, definitely seems like more of a hassle. Also like a moron forgot about maintenance costs. Thanks for the info!
