Blind leading the blind (CFI's experience levels.)
Post Body

I don't know if this would come across as a controversial point of view, but would love to hear from you all about it.

I am quite concerned about the experience levels of many new CFI"s just doing instructing to build their hours. I remember I was given a trip as a wedding present 20 years back. The 19 year old CFI was very inexperienced. However it was a good trip, and for a helicopter pilot to take the controls of a Piper (first fixed wing flying in 9 years) I didn't do too badly. Indeed she opined that I had passed the PPL checkride with how I did.

So to the title, the blind leading the blind... I have met many wonderful instructors, and the ones with white hair like mine certainly taught me far more that a teenager could.

So are we in a dangerous situation here in the USA?

TLDR: Are we letting inexperienced instructors train new pilots?

EDIT: After reading lots of very informative and intelligent replies. Can't take issue with any of you in any major way. But I will respond to one who mentioned my attitude, and I wondered if it was simply because I asked the question. I will say I would fly with any qualified CFI, and learn what I could from them. Everyone has their pet topics, e.g. weather or airframes or something, and when you hit their hot topic you can learn a lot.
