I realize the ease and simplicity of electronic logbooks. However, looking back on 40 years of flying I find a joy in occasionally opening one of them or my father's WWII logbook that's not likely to be found in the giant excel sheet. Comments occasionally written in joy or relief. A checkride note with the instructor's happyface or the slightly wiggly note at the conclusion of an night IFR approach with a total electrical failure. There's a watermark on the page suspiciously resembling that left by rum.
On another page is my SES signoff with a cryptic comment (good swimmer) .
