A month or so ago there was a fairly extensive discussion of the Delta flight that lost an engine out of LAX while headed for Asia.
This is a statement of facts from the FAA on the matter. Note that it was not final and did not reach conclusions but nonetheless provides a great deal of information.
My personal response after spending many decades in LA and flying is that this was vastly overblown in terms of risk to those on the ground vs risks that would have been incurred either going higher and offshore to dump fuel or landing heavier and faster
