Post Body

I’ve had depression/anxiety/adhd diagnoses throughout my life. I’m 24. I was on meds periodically throughout this time but have since stopped taking all of them for a few months and feel fine. I feel like I was just so used to being depressed that I thought I was dependent on the meds, but I actually feel normal without them. I told my doctor I went off them and she removed the medication from my list, but will not remove the diagnosis of depression. What I’m worried about is that if I want to pursue this as a career, the FAA will be able to see these diagnoses on my medical record and it will cause problems. I do not want to start training or anything until I’m sure that I’ll be in the clear. I can’t imagine being banned from ever flying because I had a diagnosis when I was a kid. Advice?

How much time and money do you have, it will take years and thousands of dollars to get a medical with depression, even if your off your meds now. Is flying something your so passionate about that you willing to sacrifice thousands of dollars and years just to obtain a medical before you can even start flying.
