Any pointers for a beginner fly fisher ?

I have fly fished before... Kinda. I did manage to catch a little rainbow trout but truth is, I had no clue on what I was doing. My dad had bought me a cheap 30 dollar fly rod and reel but I managed to break it. This summer I'm planning on doing lots of fly fishing. Is there any pointers you could give me? Also I will be buying a "White River Fly Shop® Dogwood Canyon® Fly Rods" rod that is $59.99 and a "White River Fly Shop® Dogwood Canyon® Disc Drag Fly Reel" That is $39.99. How long should my rod be ?
