hi floridians! i got the chance to visit your beautiful state for the first time this summer and tonight i’m really missing all the amazing wildlife and sending love hope to all of you affected by these two storms… i was in fort myers and i’m so sorry you guys got thrashed so badly! i really loved how burrowing owls had protected zones just interspersed in neighborhoods there- it was really great to see how many people were passionate about the nature around them and worked to protect it. i loved talking to fishers about their lifelong love of the water and everything in it. also of course GATORS oh my god… the roadside canals further south with a little pair of eyes popping up every so often… i could go on and on and i was only there a week, it was so so so amazing to get to see such a variety of wildlife and hear how much people loved it and were happy to share their love and knowledge of it. i am so grateful to florida and its people :-)
anyway, all that to say… do you have a favorite wildlife story? a favorite creature, rare or common? something you hope to encounter someday? i would love to hear about it!
