80% from sales tax. Thanks for helping me learn something new.
Oh I don't disagree at all. The other commenter kept saying DeSantis should do something and he couldn't even if he wanted too. it's a constitutional issue its going to have to change on the fed level if it's going to change.
No they expect young adults that live with their parents to do it.
They can regulate but those regulations would affect individuals just as much as large companies. At the end of the day companies are always going to win until we change the law so they no longer have personhood. That has to happen on the federal level.
Except I was wrong if you read a couple more comments you will see state funds come from sales tax.
To be fair im hard for most things.
I bought my first house in early 2000's. The homes were worth that much at the time the issue was the people were getting approved for loans they could never afford to pay.
Honestly I probably wouldn't move here today I'd go somewhere else.
I don't remember rent ever being cheap here it use to be much lower but I've always thought it was on the hi side especially compared to rent in flyover states.
Sound like a crap county. Unfortunately not a lot you can do when you are in the minority. they will just keep electing people that pander to the wants of the majority in the county.
Where I live they are building apartments as fast as they can. It's insane how fast they go up.
My point is this isn't a Florida issue it's a US issue. It can't be changed on a state level. It has to be changed on a federal level primarily because of the 14th amendment and corporate personhood.
They are being "pushed out" by other Floridians.
That's because I don't think being rich means you're evil. Just because I can't afford what they have doesn't mean their rights should be forfeit.
More "educated" do you mean you wish I agreed with your point of view. Their is a difference.
This was the same excuse people were using then. That and the boomers bought all the houses to be landlords and won't sell. It's the same story over and over.
Things are worth what you can sell them for if they are selling them that's what they are worth.
I'm not even really sure why you're anger. Is it because I bought a house from a private party?
Someone else mentioned DeSantis he was saying something very similar and I confused your comments.
Sigh I'm going to get so many down votes.
They aren't wrong. I can't afford to live in LA, Malibu, NYC and a great deal of other places. The government shouldn't force down prices so I can buy a home there.
It's not a bad idea. It would be hard in Florida. Almost all the state taxes come from property tax. It's home owners paying for renters rent.
Lmao well they can have my money I got the house after all. The people that owned it before sure didn't look like billionaires.
A steadily increasing minimum wage is probably helping a lot of people. We will have one of the highest minimum wages in the country.
Canada isn't a state it's a country. I feel like a broken record. If you want laws like this they have to be done on a federal level.
Not that it helps now but it's going up by $1 a year until it hits $15 an hour.
I bought my home in the last 10 years didn't deal with a single millionaire, billionaire or investment company. They are easy scapegoats
Edit: I say this because it's not some impossible thing that only boomers do because they bought a house 30 years ago. I'm just a normal guy that works a normal job.
And how would you do away with that? Let's pass some laws right? Well we have something called corporate personhood it's been debated all the way to the supreme Court as far back as 1886. You aren't going to be able to make the changes you want without changing the 14th amendment of the constitution. Like I said it's a federal level issue not a state issue.
People don't want to understand the issue they just down vote because I don't jump on the DeSantis hate train at every opportunity. DeSantis doesn't have the power to change the United States Constitution, sorry.
Where you planning on putting up a giant apartment complex? Without these big bad companies developing multi family properties prices would be astronomical even compared to now.
Let's put that all aside though. What you are saying DeSantis should do isn't a state level government issue that's something that would have to be done on a federal level.
I don't want the state doing anything like they would have to do to limit the real estate free market. Little to close to fascism for my taste.
Edit: you people would sell your soul for free housing

This isn't true. Florida is increasing much faster than other states that are facing increases while some states have plummetting housing markets CA and NY for example.
Florida is the second fastest growing sate after TX and Texas is almost 5 times the size.
