Oh God what can I say. As a bike commuter I’m a microscopic minority. Which is fine. But I avoid at least a couple of accidents and encounters with rude drivers every fucking week. Some would just shout when I’m riding in the lane (they chose to ignore the fact that there was literally no bike lane or sidewalk). Some drive like blind.
And then the parts where there are bike lanes are strewn not just with normal debris but actual shards of glass.
Who the fuck cares. I knew moving to Florida won’t be fun but I didn’t know it would be this bad.
Edit: Few days ago there was a sharp downhill, no bike lane but a very narrow and full of debris sidewalk. Decided to go down the lane (which was deserted), sidewalk isn’t exactly legal anyway. Out of the blue this guy drives an SUV past me dangerously close and, as if that wasn’t bad enough, shouts “ride on the sidewalk!” Scared the hell out of me. All of this on a steep deserted downhill at 11AM.
