I would like to remove a traditional u-shaped stairway in my California style late 80โs era home and replace them with a prefab flight of stairs like these. The bids for fabrication are in the 18k range. Demo of existing stairs, prep, installation and finish work would be another 8k. Thoughts?

Hey I never said OP was in the right place but reading before commenting never hurts.

OP was asking about cost. I.e., is the quote reasonable to build the staircase depicted here. I donโt think OP wants input as to whether building said staircase is a good idea. Seems like you made a lot of assumptions.

How do you know OP needs a kitchen remodel?

Dude that is not their actual floor plan. Itโs from the movie Poltergeist. They want to put a similar staircase in their house. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194936316869
