I love to travel, that’s one of the reasons I became a FA. Specifically with my company because “I only wanted to work for the best”.
I love aviation in general. My company has a program that provides an opportunity to become flight crew. Ultimately my goal is to get my pilots license, and being a FA with my company provided that opportunity of financial support for becoming a pilot one day.
Recently, I have become aware of the ugliness of the Industry and my pride of saying “I work for 🔺 air lines” has worn off.
I can’t afford nor have the time and energy to non-rev to destinations that I enjoy. Even when I get there, I don’t have the $ to spend like I want. I just got a free flight there.
TLDR: I recently was asked by my old company to come back. A completely different industry, 9-5 kinda job, with an annual salary of over $100k. I could afford my own D1 seat without non-revving and praying I get upgraded. Should I leave the industry for a higher paying job that allows me to travel as I please without being a crew member? What would you do?
I love flying, and I wouldn't see myself going anywhere else. You could also work for your airline but in corporate. Many airlines give flight attendants the opportunity to move away from flying and do recruiting, training, or working a corporate position. Especially if you have a college degree.
