Flying with a guitar?
Post Body

Question for all you flight attendants. I’m a musician and fly about once a week on average. For the last couple of years the majority of that has been on Delta without any issues. I travel with an electric bass in a soft/hard gig bag and either put it in a closet if available or gate check it. I have no problem gate checking and usually just do that unless there is a tight connection. I’m flying United today and was just told by the gate agent that their policy is that they won’t pink tag guitars anymore but check them as baggage. Is this true? Seems crazy, I know they are still pink tagging strollers and other items. I guess going forward I’ll have to travel with my crappy cheap bass if traveling United. I stopped checking it years ago when it got misplaced on too many trips. Is this really the policy for United now regarding musical instruments ?
