Did movies used to look better?
Post Body

I just saw a still from the original wizard of oz and the film just looked more alive compared to the recent trailer, like the film doesn’t look as bright as I was hoping visually ! Why is that? Is it a loss of practical sets in modern films? Which I know they built some for wicked ) is it digital vs shot on film ? is it bad VFX ? Why is everything so grey ? I really don’t like how alot of modern films look now there’s some that look great but a lot just look the same. No interesting color palette and I really notice this is a problem with modern films. I feel alot of older films look better. And how do we make modern films look better??

Comments

The people who worked on film and who now work in CGI are very different. It cost a lot of money to shoot on film and you have to have amazingly talented people. That’s just not done anymore. It’s only going to get worse and less personal with AI films and series coming up.
