Since I was a child, my right foot has always fallen at a 45° angle to the right. I never thought much of it. In 2023, I started back jogging and noticed any pace above 2.5 mph hurt like haites and jogging was downright painful and gave me horrific chinsplints. I saw an orthopedic who xrayed it and said i could "possibly" make it to 40 (currently 36) using painkillers and shoe inserts but recommended reconstruction surgery. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and without xrays or notes from the orthopedic, the podiatrist was able to tell me where I was experiencing pain and he too recommended reconstruction surgery. The red flag for me is the surgeon who the orthopedic works with performs the surgery and needs it himself but gave up jogging instead of having the surgery himself. I've never had a major surgery and everyone is telling me to not have my bones voluntarily cut as they'd have to cut my heel bone to reset it. I'm told this could allow for arthritis to set in. Question: has anyone had the surgery and subsequently got arthritis? How long before you were able to drive again? I'd be having surgery on my right foot. I'm single and independent af so I don't have anyone to help me while my foot recovers. I don't want to create another issue trying to eliminate another. TLDR: unsure about reconstruction surgery and possibly setting up arthritis in foot.
