Why use Flask with Firestore?

I'm using Flutter for my frontend. I've already made my app with Flutter with Firebase as my backend, using the Firebase plugin.
Now, I want to use Flask for a REST api with Firebase as a database.
But is it actually useful? Is there any benefit to an API being between Flutter and Firestore, when I can just call Firebase directly from Flutter?
