Bombproof/BIFL 90 deg for Backcountry?
Post Body

[Searched r/FL a lot, seems no same posts. V sry if so, pls link.]

I do 5 - 12 d backcountry trips. Want a real light. Was using generic HL. Bad light, but 15 yrs, drops, wet, still works.

‘Arb list’ by u/Zac, [Thank You!] conv me on 90 deg HL/EDC.

Priorities:

1 - Reliability & bombproof. Min IPX8 WP. Light can’t die on trip. (I carry a tiny backup.) Gut says get Lifetime or 5 - 10 yr warranty, but I defer to your wisdom!

Know some are digitally regulated output. That OK? Or stick w “old school” simpler components? More reliable if just wires, no processor? Input appreciated!

Know cells by diff mfgs have diff capacity & reliability. Pls help!!! Should I stick w disposable house brands of AA, etc? 18650 or others, less reliable? Still get them in 5-10 yrs?

2 - Long life on “low”, but decent output. Looking around camp, hiking, etc. Ultra low = useless. Prefer not having to click 17 x to get low and high, but flexible.

3 - Low temp. Min 0 C = 32 F. Prefer ok to -20 C = -4 F, but not sacrifice perf @ normal temps to get it. If so, I’ll get a winter light later. (Will prob only go to 10 C = 50 F, but light can’t die if drop in temp.)

4 - Great throw on high. Huge diam bright flood not needed.

5 - Light wgt. Big priority, but I doubt much variance in HLs.

Massive thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
