Cr123a side by side dangerous?

Are side by side cr123a battreies in a flashlight as dangerous as stacking them in series? Just got a new flashlight and reading stories of explosions
Got olight valkyrie pl3 it runs on 2x cr123a batteries but they are side by side instead of on top of eachother
