Old r4 completely wiped my platinum save

Found an old r4 with the ds pokemon games on it and respective save data
I played and completed pokemon platinum on it 5 or 6 years ago, yet it's the only one with a completely empty save file, I can't even open it in pkhex, and it's all 0s in hed editor
Is this a thing that's happened to anybody else? Is it in some way recoverable?
