Hello everyone ,

I am more or less starting out with FoW finaly (i have a somewhat messy collection, and played a few games over the years).

I would be very happy, if i could get some pointers, given i have a rough idea of what i would like to play, but no idea how to get there. About "viability" for now, having some "win major tournaments list" is not important for me, that is step 2 or 3.

So,about my idea, first, here Late war is the most played, so i aim for that. Next, i like Artilery a lot, which, from what i gathered so far, seems to point in the direction of an US list. Beside, i think the M12 155mm modells look cool (even if, i did gather so far that those are rather specialised tools). Priest, i find somewhat meh from the Look, but still ok. The parachute company would be my currently favorite inf. Formation.

Tank wise, i am not super keen on the sherman Tank, somehow the Look just doesnt Catch on with me.

And yes I know, it's not about the Looks, alltought given i am starting out and for the next Months, learning the ropes will be the goal, i would pref. To go with toys i think look cool, efficient comes later (given win chance are low when starting out anyway)

So at the end of the Day, i would enjoy most building two Formations, pref. One artillery, and one Inf.

So my questions are:

Would the US be the most interesting army for such an list? Or would other nations offer more varity, when swapping out elements?

How could such a list Look? (What modells, and in what quantity?)

What else, beside "some arty and some inf." Would you suggest to get? I think, even with an defensive list as the one i think about, a few tanks should be in, right? I mean, it should be play able, even if not "meta crushing"

So, any suggestions or am i considering something here which is basicaly unplayable?
