Post Body

UUUUGH.

I loved the first one, so this was a real disappointment. What made the first one so good was the Genre hybridity of it all. It was a Makeover movie mixed with a spy movie, and it really knew it. This one is basically a spy movie mixed with the first Kingsman movie and it knows it's a sequel, just in a really stupid way.

All the Hybridity is gone!! Why not make the whole film a western style (which goes way beyond just including stetsons and lassos), and have them seeking revenge for the characters who died at the start, teaming up with an American agent (Lets make them female, because all the female characters sucked in TGC), who is a typical cowboy/cowgirl, but with gadgets (Hey! Opportunity for laddish humour to please the fans of the original with the word "cowgirl!" you can get away with some sex jokes as long as she's an actual badass). Stick them in a car together and have them drive across the USA, have some banter, maybe get chased by some police, save the day and ACTUALLY BE INTERESTING.

(As you can tell, I have some anger)

Any more thoughts on how TGC could have been more of a western? I think that's the only way of making it actually work...

Here's a twitter thread about the problems with Female characters in TGC, if anyone is interested: https://twitter.com/mattgilp/status/917390519759704064
