Why would William copyright and blueprint part of his design that would clearly get him in trouble?

I mean, speaking from a logical standpoint, and considering that he's managed to get away with what he does for so long, it seems like such a rookie mistake to make, it's almost an Al Capone situation, got him on a technicality instead of the actual crimes he was committing.

Why include questionable design choices? Why print your copyright on things that can incriminate you or your business when you're trying to protect it elsewhere? Wouldn't it make more sense to just not even elude to what the parts do and instead bullshit your way through it?

For such a mastermind, William really messed up for including these designs on copyrighted blueprints.
