https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppet the wikipedia page for those interested.

The term Poppet comes from little lanky dolls that one was supposed to use or cast magic through to someone sympathetically (ie, through the similarities of) They are actually one of the basis voodoo dolls. Of course, they don't have to be lanky, but they are typically featureless or basic in their nature.

But the more interesting fact, is that the same term is also used to describe a young girl with affection, like a daughter. Considering William and his daughters accent, is it possible puppet is a play on the word Poppet?

The only real feature of the puppet is it's mask, which is an accessory. One would assume beneath it, the only features of the puppet would be the eyes and white rings on its arms/legs.

Could it be the puppet was actually made as a Poppet to sympathetically ease children's souls into other animatronics?
