Hello all! This is my first pregnancy in my first trimester so everything is very new. I do not have any pre existing health conditions and I’m at a healthy weight. I have reached out to my new OB but want to have some answers before waiting another 2-3 weeks to see the doc (she’ll be able to help me answer these questions too).
I have been lifting heavy for about the last 5 months 3-5 times a week, mainly to build strength with a little cardio. I have lifted in other small spurts in the past but this is the longest I’ve stuck with it. I know I can go lower and should not push too hard. My question is when should I start to lower? Just whenever I feel it’s too much?? Or go ahead and start maintaining. Are there certain lifts or exercises you don’t do once you find out your pregnant? Or you realize your bodies capability as time goes on?
I read that anything with the core is pretty much a no. Planks, crunches, push ups, makes sense. Is there anything I can do help maintain my core or am I unrealistic? 😅
Protein powder seems to be no? Unless your doctor advises from what I’ve read.
I don’t have any first trimester symptoms besides my breasts bothering me but I know there can be more to come. I don’t want to expect too much out of myself. I know everyone’s pregnancy is different :) but I’d like to hear other experiences, how your lifts have went as you went into your 2nd and 3rd trimester would be helpful too!
