Seasoning, firewood
Post Body

Hey everyone. I have some questions regarding storing stacking and seasoning of fire wood. This might turn into a bit of a ramble. For context I am in south west New Jersey (the pine barrens) First question I have is do yall really let your red and white oak season for 2 years and if so do you have a system for drying it. Or am I just overthinking it, just stack them in a decent spot suspended from the ground, uncovered and forget about them for 2 years.

My next question is about logs and the storing of them. So basically I can get as much wood as I want from my job. We cut a decent amount of trees down and separate the hardwoods from the pines. So basically we have a pile of hardwood trees cut into about 10-15 foot sections. Now what is my best method for keeping them free of rot.? Should I just leave them and cut what I need for the season. Or cut them all and just split what I need for the seasons. 1 issue I tend to see with the pile of trees at work is. Woodboring beetle larvae get under the bark. And then when it rains it allows water and moisture to get trapped under the bark and it cannot escape so it slowly starts to rot.
