To strip or not to strip...
Post Body

Okay, newbie question. I have decided to take the plunge into distilling but I have a question that is going unanswered. What is the difference or need for a stripping run? I have looked at many tutorials and there is always a mention but not a definitive answer to my satisfaction. Here is what I think I know: a stipping run is a quick run through a pot still to reduce the overall volume and/or distillate of the beer for a subsequent finish run. Why? And what is the benefit? Is it necessary? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
