PSA: Transfering passwords from Chrome to Firefox + switching from Firefox 32bit to 64bit
Post Body
I've recently switched from Chrome to Firefox in order to get extensions in Android.
However all my passwords were saved in Chrome and it would be a hassle to type in every password in Firefox again.
That's why I've found a way to transfer all your passwords from Chrome to Firefox:
- Go to chrome://settings-frame/passwords (in Chrome)
- Click show password on the first entry and enter your user password
- Open the console (F12 -> top right console)
- Copy the following code into the console and then press enter: http://justpaste.it/chrometofirefox
- Copy the resulting page to a new txt file, save it and then rename the file to (...).clv
- Download this extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-Us/firefox/addon/password-exporter/ (in Firefox)
- Press "import passwords" and then choose your CLV file.
That's it, worked just fine for me.
You can also seamlessly switch from Firefox 32bit to 64bit without loosing any data/profile.
Just install 64bit as a second install, it will automatically install to Program Files (instead of x86) and it will import your default profile from 32bit. After that, just deinstall the 32bit version.
