I'm back! Just finished Shadows of Valentia last night (at 3:00 AM) and wow, just, it was a fantastic game.
Having heard that SS was similar to Gaiden/SoV, I went in knowing that it would probably feel familiar, and it did, I loved it so much.
I went through on Normal/Casual for my first playthrough since I'd heard that Gaiden and SoV were some of the most finicky games mechanics wise, so I would've lost some good characters had I not done that.
The music, man, the music is just amazingly fantastic, good music in any game or media really makes or breaks it sometimes for me, usually the prior.
Overall, the game was quite well done and felt good to play with the mechanics and other well built things, maps could've been better looks at Fear Mountain but it felt a lot like Sacred Stones, which I started with for the series.
I'll name a few songs here: The Heritors of Arcadia, The Voice That Calls You, The Course of Gods and Men (I loved these ones a lot), One Star by the Next, The Scions' Dance in Purgatory, Twilight of the Gods, Lord of a Dead Empire (so awesome sounding), Undiscovered Horizons, Echoes, and of course, I can't leave out the Fire Emblem Theme for this game!
Edit: I really need to go finish Radiant Dawn though, that'll be a few more days
