I made post about how grindy I felt the final chapter (and chapter 22) of Engage was: https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/1buaoxq/engage_was_my_favourite_fire_emblem_game_and_also/
I'm baffled that the replies I'm getting are "just rush the objectives" and "kill Sombron in one turn". I feel I could optimize my play a little more to take out the dark emblems faster, possibly even cut the time for the first 4 in half by getting 3 before reinforcements appear. But other than critting with virtually all of my units, I have no clue how I could kill Sombron in a turn. I barely got one of his 4 health bars on the one turn his shields went down.
I expect that I do play more passively than most, but "just rush the objective" seems like people are playing a entirely different game than me. If I do that, I lose my half my team in one turn.
All of this is to say, is my team significantly less optimized than what is "expected" at this point. I am playing blind, so I expect to have a worse team than those who "keep up with the meta", just wondering by how much... Other than chapter 22 and 25, and 26, all the chapters have felt very fair and achievable with the team I have (22 was a real grind and I cheesed 25).
