Replace FireTV Stick Remote with TV Remote

So I have an older TV that doesn't seem to have HDMI-CEC. We lost the remote that came with the Fire TV stick, and I would like to replace it with a larger remote (one harder to lose with a 17 month old who loves remotes). Can I use a regular TV remote? If not, any suggestions on what I could use?
