Hello, I'm a 31 year old male. 8 years ago, I got my Bachelor's in Economics. Ever since then, it's been a struggle. The longest job I've had was a job with my local county that lasted about a year before the probation period ended (right before covid which has prevented me from jobs since). Other than that, it's been mostly temp assignments and long resume gaps. I don't really know very many people so I don't have access to the "hidden job market" and I don't really have anyone who can help me. Recently, I met with my WIOA rep through EDD and was referred to caljobs website to look at skills programs, but a lot of them go over the $8k that WIOA covers. Is it worth it to pay money for these career programs? I'd like office work, because my personality is not suited for the sales positions that seem to be abundant. Also, getting into one of these programs would essentially require me to be unemployed (no money) until June which would be tough. I currently live at home, but I need to get my life in gear ASAP to support myself. Can anybody here help me? Is there any career counseling service available where I could work with someone 1 on 1?
