I’m currently a sophomore in college with a major in neuroscience and minor in business. My issue is while I have this general interest I don’t know what direction or step to take next. I love learning about science but don’t necessarily like doing it, like doing research. That’s not to say I entirely dislike it, but after having worked in a research lab for a while now, I just know I wouldn’t be fulfilled working on project after project of research that may or may not be important and crunching data. I also like in business the idea of being a people person, making connections, strategizing, earning a higher salary, having upward mobility, and moving towards a large goal that I know will make an impact. What I don’t like is how soulless it can sometimes be with a narrow focus on just making better profit margins for a product that people will buy but isn’t really helping anybody. It’s just with the pursuit of making money. Which is why I want to combine these two interests. I want to always be learning but still but still be making decisions in a business that’s driving innovation and helping people on a large scale. I just don’t know what to do now in college or once I graduate to further this goal. Does anyone have any recommendations?
