Post Body

I am a 20 year old from India. I graduated highschool at the age of 17 in 2021 (Covid batch) and there are a lot of career mistakes I hv made since , but there are few good things in my life and I am grateful to it.

  1. Having no- debt : That's biggest plus factor of living in India , most of the student don't have to get debt for pursuing their degree. Most of our parents they pay for college very willingly. Also if you except the engineering and medical degrees , all the other courses having high school are very very cheap in my country. I , wanting to major in accountancy my mom paid my college fees for first year. Also she was happy to pay for the professional course I was pursuing along the lines. It was a very reputed college too. Yes , I had failed and dropped out .

  2. Being able to manage from my childhood savings :

Before I began this long trail of failures , I always asked my mother to pay for my education. I never thought it was wrong. The most important feeling I had was : I can obviously pay her back when I get a good job in future and there is nothing to wrong in it bcz I had right to good education. So I could demand her money for my education.

You know after I failed in college , I decided to do a my first year through distance learning and I paid all the money from my savings account which I had since childhood. And I passed my first year from my saved money ! I am happy about it. I had also cleared the 1st level of a course I was pursuing alongside through my efforts.

The most important lesson I’ve learned here is that when you fail at something, despite your best efforts, you should manage the consequences independently, including financially. That’s what I’ve realized from my own experience. I’ve never asked my mom for money after a setback. Each time I was supported, it was because my mom, out of her own will, decided to help me. It was never something I demanded like earlier. My mom’s support was always given voluntarily.

Yes , it is fact that where I am in life , I may need help soon. I also need a job which I would be focusing on applying in next few weeks. It will be my first job. Hope I get it.

But you know if the need arises ,where I don't hv a job a roof and food to eat. I may just request her but not 'expect' any help from her. Because even if I starve to death , that's probably my life , my fate.

  1. I have a roof : Pretty much the title , I am happy that I am allowed to live with my parents , get food , and a bed.

One question which may arise is why I didnt do any job before ? To tell inshort , the job situation in India is poles apart from US/Europe. I mean it. And it is more preferred to first have your college education sorted and then look for jobs bcz of it. Ofcourse , there are internships too , but it would have been very difficult for me to get and I thought of postponing it and focus on my studying and cracking exams which will give me more credibility in the interviews so thats why.

After reading all this , people may think I am entitled or leech . And that's fine. But I know the efforts I have pulled , those sleepless nights I spent studying. It was hard , and the course I was pursuing is very difficult. In life , for me , it is efforts you do that matters , whether it yields money or not that should not be the 'only metric' to measure how hardworking you are.
